about

What do you think is worth mentioning when you look at my Bio? In terms of collaborations as a sound engineer or, as they call it nowadays, sound director, i have worked with people like Marian Gold (Alphaville) and Jaki Liebezeit (Can), Peter Brötzmann and William Parker, Caspar Brötzmann and Michael Wertmüller, Bernadette La Hengst, Paul Schütze and Alex Buess. I worked with contemporary classical Ensemble Phoenix (Basel) and Ensemble Mosaik (Berlin), and the Berlin  Capella choir on a composition by Knut Remond that has won the ‚Junge Ohren‘ award, Germany’s most important prize for music communication presented by Bayrischer Rundfunk and Deutschlandradio. Live mixes with those ensembles that include performances at the Chamber Music Hall of the Berlin Philharmonics and the Lucerne Festival. Extensive touring as a sound engineer, partly as a tourmanager, and partly as their European main agent (of my own Booking Agency Splatter Promotion) with Melt-Banana, Oxbow, Swell, 16-17 and Deathless. I have performed twice at the M-Cluster Festival at Akademie der Künste Berlin, that was also linked to the Festival of MoMa in Berlin 2005 and 2006, once with Eugene Robinson as the smoking Word and once with Michael Wermüller and Olaf Rupp, add 3 compositions commissioned by the Studio for Electro Acoustic Art of the Akademie der Künste. Some Videosoundtrack compositions for Karin Blaser at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin, numerous album recordings, as well as a recent recording commissioned by German painter Albert Oehlen for an exhibition for the 100th anniversary Festival of the Museum of Arts Cleveland, featuring a work by Michael Wertmüller again and featuring German Musician, sound artist and actor Thomas Mahmoud (SFX, The Nest, Tannhäuser Sterben & das Tod, Von Spar). And finally i am currently also running a recording studio at and for Freie Universitaet Berlin.

I have performed with some of my own bands and as a solo artist amongst others as a support act for Mike Watt’s Firehose and Jon Langford’s Mekons (and The Levellers if I remember right), toured Switzerland, Germany and Poland twice (1989, where i, amongst others, plaid at the famous Jarocin Festival, and 1992) with my band thE silencE crieS (that in its history also featured former members of the now reunited Wolfhounds (of Dave Callahan) and the London Based live-techno pioneers Bourbonese Qualk) and i have toured Hungary with a band called Supernova (obviously not the rather known one). Older released albums of mine, by the way, have been produced by Alex Buess, who is on the web also listed as a former member of My Bloody Valentine, this may goo a bit too far now…

I am also an it-expert, photographer, translator and filmmaker (with the internationally acclaimed 2009 Oxbow tour documentary Still Before)
